In small settlements of North West Greenland, hunting seal, walrus and other Arctic animals is still a vital part of life and a main source of food for many families. The Inughuit hunters still travel by dog sleds on sea ice. But sea ice is getting thinner and thinner each year. Hunters encounter more open water now. Hunting on the sea ice has become more dangerous. The loss of sea ice threatens Inughuit’s traditional way of life. It’s possible this way of life will be lost forever.
